Today went soooo fast I feel like I'm still trying to catch up. This morning we dedicated our science time to making multiplication experts out of our kids. I gave them a 6 problem placement quiz, and then broke them into group based on ability. We worked for an hour on multiplying single-digit numbers by double and triple. Then the class took the quiz again, and some of them even took it a third time. Everyone entered the afternoon on the same page, and we began to work on double-digit multiplication. We started the hour with them literally looking at me like I was crazy, but by the end of the hour light bulbs started to click on. I love that sight!! We will work on it more Mon., and a sheet will come home for homework. Today we also wrote an essay for an extended response, and they will work on their own next week. I had a meeting which ran over into my lunch time, so grades will come home Monday.
